Mashable tech site shows last weekend a robotic octopus with robotic suckers that resembles like an octopus’ and squid’s suckers. The suckers are like of those printed from an octopus that grips objects around or even hold a human prisoner.
According to the reports researches gathered, those robotic suckers able to grip a bottle of wine. The only difference is that it’s not powerful just like an organic suckers can do. Their research team are still making more developments to create a much better and much more stronger suckers in the world.
Mashable claims that aside from robotic suckers, robotic fingers are much more harder to make. One problem is if they are to make a robotic hand, the human hand and human fingers may be hard to make them compress especially when they will a robotic model of it.
They added also that its much better that they make octopus tentacles than making such robotic hands because the tentacles can grip more than of a palm. On top of that, it’s more stronger especially that it has flexible limbs and small suckers.
Mashable made those robotic suckers were built to independently exert suction pressures, thus it gives off unprecedented control that will allow it to grip perfectly on objects.
U.S. Army Research Laboratory will give make another version of those robotic suckers, but this time with multi-material-ready 3D printer.
